‘Will & Grace’ stars honor Leslie Jordan: ‘Everyone who ever met him, loved him’
Will & Grace star Debra Messing has been honored by his onetime agent and mentor, Leslie Jordan. Messing shared Jordan’s thoughts on their time together during a tribute to Jordan.
Jordan, who wrote a book titled “On My Way: The Life and Lessons of Leslie Jordan” with Messing, the actress said at the tribute that he would be “in the front row watching” her big night.
“It’s a very intense night,” Messing said. “I’ve never had to do that, where you have that many people around you and you are the only one who will sing so many songs, and then you do it on network television. You are the only one who gets to do (the tribute). And Leslie will be there with his wife, so he is in the front row watching it all. He has been there every step of the way.”
Jordan wrote the book’s foreword, in which he described Messing as his “wife,” his “daughter,” his “child” and said she was “the only person I’ve ever loved who has not been my mother.”
In the foreword, Jordan said Messing and he would “continue to be as family” but added that their relationship “has never been as close as it has been over the last five decades.”
Jordan said he and Messing never had a problem with each other because they knew how much they loved each other “totally and totally.”
During the tribute, he recalled Jordan’s time as a young agent.
“We would stay up all night talking — he did this and that — and we did lots of things, but what made us click was that we both loved our families, we loved our careers and we never had one of our careers that we thought we were going to fail,” Jordan said. “We always knew what the other one was gonna do and neither one of us looked at one another and said, ‘I know I’m gonna fail because of this,’ or ‘I’ll
