Geoff Morrell will continue as a writer for “The Hollywood Reporter” while he supervises the company’s established relationships within the government relations and public policy community.

Geoff will focus on matters that drive the “Nightmare Before Christmas” remake and the following films: Disney’s 22 Story Prods and a creative team from Disney’s Animal Kingdom, including animator Don Hall and story supervisor Joe Ranft, working closely with Ron Clements and John Musker, who helmed the 1993 film; Tony Dovolani; “Idol” judge Harry Connick Jr. will appear in the film, and “Resident Evil” actress Milla Jovovich will voice the lead role.

Separately, Geoff will oversee the development of corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Morrell has spent more than 20 years building relationships within Hollywood, Washington and the corporate world. He received a bachelor’s degree in history and creative writing from the University of Oklahoma and a master’s in social work from the University of Southern California. He was a reporter at the Village Voice and wrote for the L.A. Times.

Morrell has served as a Los Angeles Police Officer, a ward chief, a SWAT Lieutenant, and a development commissioner.
