Cher responds to criticism over romance with much younger boyfriend, Alexander Edwards
Actress Kacey Musgraves has come out and said that she feels compelled to defend her music career from some of the harsh criticism her new romance with a much younger man has brought against her.
Musgraves and Alexander Edwards’ relationship seems to be in a bit of a tiff recently, as she has gone on record to express her displeasure with the newly engaged couple.
She wrote an email to Entertainment Weekly about the couple last week, saying, “I feel compelled to defend Alexander. Alexander is a friend of mine, he’s a singer-songwriter who is very supportive of my music. The whole thing feels a little awkward.”
Musgraves went on to say, “I’m not saying Alexander is the love of my life. He’s not. But he is smart and thoughtful and generous, and with his music and his singing and his writing to share, he deserves to express who he is.”
On the other hand, Edwards has spoken out about the controversy, saying, “I think it’s sad because she’s really, really good at what she does and I think she should focus on that.”
Musgraves and Edwards first met in 2016 after meeting through one of Musgraves’ bands and they have been in a relationship for a year.
The pair are engaged and have just recently started to prepare for their wedding, which is scheduled for the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Edwards’ music is getting some attention of its own with his single, All The Words I Never said, gaining a fair amount of attention online. The song will appear on his upcoming EP, which is due out sometime this fall.
He recently said: “The music is going to be pretty mellow with just a little guitar.”
