CNN has partnered with our partners in China to identify the world’s top 10 CNN Heroes of 2016.

From wildlife conservation to social empowerment, these are people who are changing the world through their actions.

Without hesitation, the Volunteer Center in Hong Kong chooses Weiyi Dan to be our top CNN Hero this year.

He is known throughout Hong Kong as ‘Chung Kong Mike’ for his work on behalf of people living with disabilities.

After completing some civil engineering studies, Dan decided to be a “humanitarian in action” and began volunteering his time helping children with disabilities.

Today he helps around 350 children a year.

“I first volunteered in 2009 and I haven’t stopped,” Dan said in an interview. “I love children.”

A move away from Hong Kong’s financial sector, Dan also helps with disadvantaged youth.

“I believe all the children really need to learn about life so they can be something more.”

CNN Geek Out revealed the winners of the CNN Heroes program in 2016.

Sungai Ling is CNN Geek Out’s People’s Choice winner.

By putting their lives back together, these 10 heroes are doing more for the world than their counterparts.

They are the people who have transformed the lives of others.

We hope you will also join us in voting for this year’s winners.
