Emily Ratajkowski speaking out about anxiety at the Oscars

Most teenagers are struggling to find clothes that fit in their new school uniforms. But Emily Ratajkowski was entering adulthood as a model with an enormous salary already stitched into her contract. In the feature-length documentary I Feel Pretty, she talks about how her family views the American culture that turned her into one of the most recognisable faces in the world.

Ratajkowski was seen at the highest point of her career last year. She was cast as Scarlet Johansson’s love interest in the pilot of the new Amazon show Red Oaks. The impressive turn had already launched her on to magazine covers and to the front of book her autobiography What I Look Like (Which I Don’t Want You to Think About). Her latest role – that of Amy Schumer’s best friend in the comedy I Feel Pretty – landed her her second Oscar nomination. The crowd appeared utterly taken with her presence in the film, hugging her, laughing with her and giving her kisses on the cheek. In the past she had been frequently mocked, but this was a moment of genuine recognition.
